WORKSHOP WORKS

22:56

We are heading back to Calais for another instalment in our project. We're hoping that in our absence the workshop which we have set up is still working and that the production of shelters has not slowed down or stopped.

We arrive back to the warehouse at midday and meet the volunteers who have been looking after our shelter workshop whilst we have been away. Despite having to pack down the workshop for warehouse cleaning and reconstruct it, things have slowed down a little but have been running smoothly. We find out that 15 more Shelters have been fully built in the Camp and now have Families living in them. This makes us very happy that our system works even when we are not necessarily there to manage it on a daily basis.

We get straight to work and start building after meeting all the new volunteers. This place is like a hive, there are people buzzing around everywhere. Sorting out clothes, tents, food, etc… There must be over 50 people here from all over Europe - mostly UK based though - lending their time and skills to helping these people. Its so inspiring to see people coming together, not for profit, not for political gain, just to help those in need.
