With
the help of some wonderful volunteers we have now got the workshop up and
running and producing shelters. We have a great production line on the go. Brid
and Emma really made vent/window fitting and wood chopping their own. After
much tinkering and rejigging with the design we had a prototype which we were
ready to test out in the camp and it just so happened that a family with
nothing but a donated tent was in need of a new shelter.
Strapping it to the
roof of our trusty team car we drove to the newly designated Family Field. A
great place to test run our design and far more relaxed then the sometimes
chaotic atmosphere in the main Camp. The main build went very well, however we
also learnt a LOT about how to improve, not so much the design of the shelter
itself but in how we prepare it for installation on site to make it a lot
smoother and a lot quicker. The main thing we are going to do is pre-build the
roof. We worked really well as a team and the joy that we have provided a
sturdy shelter to house a family and keep them warm and dry over the next few
months was fantastic. Making a difference!
We are looking forward to what tomorrow brings.
